2008/ 2009 Budget Speech

We would like to thank all local businesses like Pick ‘n Pay, for having allowed their employees to freely commemorate such a significant event in our nation. We saw them dressed in school uniforms, and that gesture did not go unnoticed. During the 2007/8 speech, madam speaker I indicated that there are no joys without mountains that we have to climb, but the joys that spring from climbing these mountains together with a diligent team of officials and supportive members of our community, are profound.

As the sayings goes, at every new level there is a new devil. We have faced our past challenges and conquered what we could and we are still going to join forces and face what ever new challenges we will come across on the financial year ahead of us.

The following issues will determine, obviously comparing them with what has been said last year, if we are moving any closer to our vision of providing a better life for all members of our community by striving to provide quality services The question we always need to ask ourselves is if our mission of providing quality services in response to community needs; promoting and sustaining of local economic growth; and the enhancement of the standard of living of all members of our community; is properly carried out.
